Engineering Officer – Lead Specialist Technicians

About the role

The Engineering Officer role sits within the Engineering Profession and involves leading a team of specialist engineering technicians. You will provide mentorship, guidance and technical support while working on a wide range of platforms from aircraft carriers to destroyers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of specialist technicians, fostering their growth into future engineers.
• Collaborate with industry specialists to design, test, manufacture and apply new engineering solutions.
• Maintain and ensure the correct operation of critical equipment such as hull structures, propulsion, power generation and radar systems on naval vessels.
• Work with advanced propulsion, weapons, navigation and control systems under demanding conditions.

Required profile

• Age between 18 and 39.
• STEM degree (any engineering, science or mathematics discipline).
• Minimum 96 UCAS points (or Scottish equivalent) with at least 64 points in maths and an engineering‑based science.
• At least 5 GCSEs (grades A*–C) including English and Mathematics.
• UK citizenship or British dual nationality (subject to restrictions) and five years continuous residence in the UK.
