Family Law Paralegal – Birmingham

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal/Assistant to join our busy Birmingham office. The role supports solicitors and fee earners across a varied caseload of private and public family law matters, including Legal Aid cases. You will play a key part in delivering high‑quality client care and ensuring compliance with court directions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft statements, court documents and legal correspondence.
• Prepare bundles and manage case files.
• Liaise with clients, counsel, experts and external agencies.
• Manage key dates and ensure compliance with court directions.
• Assist with Legal Aid applications and funding matters.

Required profile

• Previous experience in Family Law (both private and public) – essential.
• Knowledge of divorce, financial remedies, child arrangements, consent orders and pre/post‑nuptial agreements.
• Strong client care and communication skills, especially with vulnerable clients.
• Familiarity with Legal Aid processes and the LAA Portal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using case management systems.
• Ability to navigate the LAA Portal.
