Finance & Commercial Director

About the role

The Finance & Commercial Director will lead financial strategy, commercial performance and long‑term sustainability for Vital Services, a provider of managed healthcare facilities supporting Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee long‑term financial strategy, planning and reporting.
• Drive commercial strategy, manage contract performance and lead negotiations.
• Identify and pursue business development and growth opportunities.
• Ensure governance, assurance and risk management across the portfolio.
• Lead efficiency, transformation and value‑for‑money programmes.

Required profile

• Professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA or ICAEW).
• Senior financial leadership experience in a contract‑driven environment.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience managing FM/estates contracts.
• Collaborative, values‑driven approach aligned with public‑service ethos.
• Experience working with public‑sector clients, ideally the NHS.
• Commitment to Vital Services and BWC NHSFT values – ambitious, brave, compassionate.
• Integrity, transparency and commercial discipline.
