Finance Director – Private Equity‑Backed Business

About the role

The Finance Director will join the executive leadership team of a fast‑growing, private‑equity backed business. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with investors, you will act as a strategic partner to drive commercial decisions, operational performance and future growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership to the Board and senior leadership team.
• Lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Deliver insightful analysis to support commercial and operational decisions.
• Drive margin improvement, operational efficiencies and financial performance.
• Develop robust financial controls, governance and reporting processes.
• Manage banking relationships, funding requirements and working capital.
• Prepare high‑quality board packs and present performance to shareholders and private‑equity investors.
• Support acquisition activity, integration projects and future exit planning.
• Lead, develop and mentor the finance team.
• Embed finance across the business by collaborating with operational leaders.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, engineering, contracting or project‑based businesses.
• Strong understanding of contract accounting, project reporting, WIP, cash flow and working capital management.
• Experience in a private‑equity backed environment is desirable.
• Commercial mindset with ability to influence stakeholders.
• Proven track record of improving financial processes, controls and reporting.
• Leadership experience with high‑performing finance teams.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence at Board level.

What we offer

• Salary of £100,000–£120,000 per year.
