Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to own the financial close, balance‑sheet control and statutory reporting for Gleeson Recruitment Group in Birmingham. This hands‑on position will lead a small finance team and offers the chance to drive process improvements rather than simply maintain existing procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
• Manage statutory reporting and act as the primary contact for the year‑end audit.
• Lead a team of five across management accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable, providing coaching and performance management.
• Own group reporting submissions and liaise with group finance and treasury.
• Drive process improvement and automation across finance workflows.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA) with strong financial accounting experience.
• Proven track record managing statutory accounts and external audits.
• Experience supervising or managing finance team members.
• Sharp attention to detail and ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Genuine interest in improving finance processes.
