German‑Speaking Technical Engineer – Passenger Information Systems

About the role

We are seeking a German‑speaking Technical Engineer to provide on‑site and remote support for our passenger information systems across the UK and Germany. Based in Lewes, you will work closely with UK and German teams, travelling regularly to Wuppertal and customer sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑line technical support in German and English via phone, email and on‑site visits.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and system‑integration issues on vehicle‑based equipment.
• Lead system integration projects from consultation through hardware selection, software implementation, vehicle integration and installation.
• Conduct site evaluations, installations, retrofits and technical investigations at customer and OEM locations in Germany.
• Create databases and media content for onboard equipment and coordinate integration with third‑party vehicle systems.
• Provide technical training to customers, partners and internal teams.
• Produce accurate technical documentation and maintain clear records.

Required profile

• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
• Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience in electronics, software or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience delivering technical support in a hardware/software or engineering environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities under pressure.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to Germany and internationally.

Required skills

• Programming/scripting languages: Python, Lua, C, C++, C# or .NET.
• Configuration and diagnosis of Ethernet networks and communication protocols.
• Knowledge of serial communications such as IBIS, RS232 or RS485.
• Experience with Linux systems and electrical/electronic design, circuit diagrams or vehicle wiring.
