Graduate Urban Designer – Newcastle

About the role

This permanent graduate position is based in Newcastle upon Tyne with an award‑winning, multidisciplinary consultancy. You will support the creation of masterplans, urban design proposals and planning applications while developing your expertise in sustainable placemaking.

Key responsibilities

• Support preparation of masterplans, frameworks and urban design proposals.
• Produce plans, diagrams, presentations and design material.
• Undertake site and contextual analysis and assist feasibility studies.
• Contribute to design codes, guidance and planning documents.
• Prepare planning application material and high‑quality visualisations.
• Collaborate with architects, planners, consultants and clients.
• Research and apply best‑practice principles in sustainable placemaking.

Required profile

• A relevant degree in Urban Design, Town Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or related field.
• Strong graphic and presentation abilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Creative and analytical problem‑solving approach.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
