Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist – Fixed‑Term Band 6

About the role

The Christie is seeking a dedicated Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join its Surgical Oncology team on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. This full‑time Band 6 position supports patients undergoing complex multi‑disciplinary cancer surgery and contributes to the development of a high‑quality nursing service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist nursing care to patients undergoing gynaecological cancer surgery, often in collaboration with colorectal, urology, plastic surgery and other specialties.
• Coordinate pre‑operative assessments, post‑operative care plans and discharge processes.
• Act as a clinical resource and role model for the multidisciplinary team, promoting best practice and patient safety.
• Participate in service development initiatives and contribute to the wider Greater Manchester Specialist Surgery Services for gynaecological cancer.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse with experience in gynaecological surgery and/or oncology.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.

Required skills

• Specialist clinical nursing knowledge in gynaecological oncology.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, care planning and coordination.
• Ability to act as a positive role model and mentor for junior staff.
