Head of Commercial Procurement

About the role

The Head of Commercial Procurement will lead the transformation of a public‑sector procurement function in Manchester city centre. You will shape strategy, drive commercial value and partner with senior stakeholders while managing a small, high‑performing team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement procurement strategy and policies across the organisation.
• Lead complex, high‑value tender processes and contract negotiations.
• Provide procurement guidance and support to senior stakeholders.
• Motivate and develop a small procurement team.
• Ensure compliance with public‑sector legislation and frameworks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in UK public‑sector procurement, including PA23 and PCR2015.
• Proven knowledge of public‑sector frameworks and MCIPS qualification (or working towards).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• Experience of contract and supplier relationship management.
