Head of Employment Solicitor – Birmingham

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to lead our Birmingham employment practice. This senior position offers the chance to shape strategy, manage a high‑performing team, and advise a diverse portfolio of national and international employers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering both contentious and non‑contentious employment advice.
• Provide commercial guidance on HR issues, disciplinary matters, redundancies, discrimination, whistleblowing, TUPE, restrictive covenants and tribunal litigation.
• Collaborate with corporate, commercial and regulatory colleagues on employment aspects of M&A and restructurings.
• Develop client relationships, drive business development and mentor junior lawyers.
• Contribute to the firm’s national employment strategy and practice growth.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a proven track record advising employer clients on complex employment matters.
• Experience at Partner, Legal Director or senior associate level, with a commercial mindset.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and develop lawyers.
• Strong business development appetite and commitment to practice expansion.
