Head of Finance (Interim)

About the role

We are partnering with Trinity House Group, a values‑led organisation, to find an interim Head of Finance to report directly to the CFO. This hands‑on role blends day‑to‑day finance operations with leading a transformation programme, ensuring the finance function becomes more efficient, resilient and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and support budget holders.
• Prepare and post journals, manage pre‑payments, accruals and deferred income.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Review end‑to‑end finance processes and identify opportunities for simplification and standardisation.
• Reduce manual spreadsheet reliance and improve month‑end timetable.
• Document finance procedures, create process maps and guidance.
• Strengthen financial controls and develop robust working papers and templates.
• Maximise use of Sage CRM and Sage 50, supporting system optimisation and implementation of agreed improvements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong management accounting background with experience in finance process improvement.
• Proven track record delivering finance transformation projects in changing environments.
• Experience in local government or public sector is desirable.
