Head of HR – 3‑Month Fixed‑Term (Hybrid)

About the role
This three‑month fixed‑term position offers an experienced HR professional the chance to lead the people function for a prominent performing‑arts organisation. Working hybrid across the office and venue, you will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and help shape culture while the permanent Head of HR is recruited.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an HR business plan aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, managers and staff on all HR matters.
- Lead recruitment, employee relations, organisational change and payroll oversight.
- Balance staff wellbeing and engagement with robust governance, compliance and risk management.
- Collaborate with Inclusion, Skills and Operations teams to embed training, wellbeing and people‑management capability.
- Provide insightful reporting to senior leadership and the Board, highlighting risks, trends and solutions.
- Manage HR budgets, remuneration frameworks, pay benchmarking and benefits.
- Occasionally attend rehearsals, press nights and events with a TOIL system in place.
Required profile
- Substantial senior HR experience, ideally within a creative or arts‑based environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, organisational design and change.
- Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive employee‑relations cases.
- Experience developing HR strategy, business plans, policies and reporting frameworks.
- Clear commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in HR practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion and professional judgement.
- CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification (or equivalent experience).
Required skills
- CIPD Level 5 or 7 (or equivalent).
- In‑depth knowledge of UK employment legislation.
- Expertise in HR budgeting, remuneration and benefits management.
