Head of Risk & Compliance (Hybrid, Manchester)

About the role

We are partnering with a growing regional law firm in Manchester to recruit a Head of Risk & Compliance. This newly created senior position will lead the firm’s risk function, reporting to senior partners and shaping the future compliance strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of day‑to‑day risk and compliance activities.
• Support the COLP, COFA and MLRO responsibilities.
• Oversee AML processes, client due diligence and regulatory compliance.
• Review, update and enhance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Advise partners and fee‑earners on SRA requirements.
• Develop and embed a proactive compliance culture across the firm.

Required profile

• Previous experience in legal risk and compliance.
• Ideally a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive.
• Strong knowledge of the SRA regulatory framework.
• Experience with AML, compliance monitoring and risk management.
• Ability to work autonomously and influence senior stakeholders.
