Housekeeper – Paediatric Emergency Department

About the role
The Housekeeper in the Paediatric Emergency Department at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital ensures a clean, safe, and well‑organised environment for patients, families and staff. Working in a fast‑paced emergency setting, you will support infection prevention, equipment readiness and the overall patient experience.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across clinical and non‑clinical areas in line with infection prevention and control policies.
- Clean, check and prepare equipment for immediate use.
- Manage stock levels, order supplies and keep stores organised.
- Support safe storage, rotation and distribution of food and drink items for patients and families.
- Ensure the department is free from clutter or hazards and report any environmental or equipment issues promptly.
- Collaborate with nursing, medical and support teams to facilitate smooth patient flow.
Required profile
- Commitment to maintaining a hygienic and safe clinical environment.
- Ability to follow infection control policies and procedures.
- Strong organisational skills for stock and store management.
- Team‑oriented mindset, working closely with multidisciplinary staff.
- Focus on delivering a positive patient and family experience.
