Housing Disrepair Lawyer

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Housing Disrepair Lawyer to join a growing claimant litigation team in Manchester. You will manage a full caseload of housing disrepair claims from instruction through to resolution, acting on behalf of tenants and delivering excellent outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a complete caseload of Housing Disrepair claims from start to finish.
• Draft letters of claim, pleadings, witness statements and other legal documents.
• Conduct litigation, liaising with defendants, experts and opposing solicitors.
• Assess liability and quantum, obtain expert evidence and prepare schedules of loss.
• Negotiate settlements and attend hearings, mediations and settlement meetings.
• Provide clear legal advice and maintain client communication throughout each matter.
• Support junior team members and supervise a small sub‑team where appropriate.
• Stay up‑to‑date with developments in legislation, case law and civil procedure.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or equivalent with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience (all levels considered).
• Experience handling Housing Disrepair or claimant civil litigation matters.
• Strong knowledge of CPR, pre‑action protocols and litigation processes.
• Proven ability to manage a busy caseload while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Client‑focused mindset, especially when supporting vulnerable clients.
