Housing Litigation Solicitor – Director (Birmingham)

About the role

This senior position leads the Housing Litigation team for a top‑tier law firm operating across England and Wales. Reporting directly to the Board, the Director will shape strategy, oversee high‑value cases and ensure the department meets its performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and guidance on all housing matters, including homelessness, disrepair, eviction, possession and property disputes.
• Supervise solicitors, trainee solicitors and caseworkers, managing caseloads and complexity.
• Deliver training and development programmes within the department.
• Handle emergency cases, strategic litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) initiatives.
• Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency.
• Draft court documents, witness statements and process evidential material.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in housing law.
• Recent experience (at least 2 years) on the Housing Court Duty Scheme.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise legal teams.
• Strong track record of advocacy in housing courts and tribunals.
