HR Advisor – 12 month maternity cover

About the role

This 12‑month maternity cover position supports BAE Systems in Barrow‑in‑Furness, delivering HR advice and operational support across a manufacturing, unionised environment. You will act as a first point of contact for employees, helping to resolve queries and ensure HR processes run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day HR advice to employees and managers.
• Manage and resolve employee relations queries promptly.
• Support the analysis of people data and contribute to benchmarking initiatives.
• Work with Centres of Excellence and wider HR models to embed best practice, policies and governance.
• Assist with monitoring key HR metrics and inputting data into HR information systems.
• Collaborate with HR Managers, Leads, Partners and Associates to deliver coordinated business‑oriented solutions.

Required profile

• Fundamental experience of HR policies, procedures and basic employment law.
• Ability to advise and act as a reliable point of contact for staff.
• Experience working in a manufacturing, project‑based and unionised setting.
• Strong organisational skills and the capacity to influence and coach others in line with business priorities.

Required skills

• Success Factors (HRIS platform).
• General HR information systems proficiency.
