HR Advisor – Deputy Head of HR

About the role

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a fast‑growing education organisation at a pivotal point in its journey. You will act as the deputy to the Head of HR, influencing strategy while remaining hands‑on with complex operational and transformation activities across a multi‑site environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the day‑to‑day operational delivery of HR services across multiple sites.
• Provide trusted advice on complex employee relations, engagement and organisational change matters.
• Support significant growth initiatives, including TUPE transfers, school integrations and workforce transformation projects.
• Oversee payroll, pensions, compliance and people operations.
• Drive continuous improvement of HR systems, processes and reporting.
• Develop people analytics and workforce insights to aid decision‑making.
• Build strong relationships with senior leaders, headteachers and key stakeholders.
• Act as deputy to the Head of HR, providing leadership across the wider HR team.

Required profile

• Strong operational and strategic HR experience.
• Significant employee‑relations expertise within a unionised environment.
• Proven experience leading change, consultation and organisational transformation.
• Confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
• Education sector experience is highly desirable, though relevant public‑sector experience is also welcomed.
