HR Specialist – HR Helpdesk Lead

About the role

The BBC is seeking an HR Specialist to lead its HR Helpdesk team. This senior‑level position will manage a group of HR Advisors who provide front‑line guidance to employees and managers across the organisation. The role combines people leadership with a focus on service excellence, continuous improvement and the use of data and emerging technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team of HR Advisers, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment.
• Ensure the delivery of accurate, timely and “right‑first‑time” HR advice across a broad range of topics.
• Oversee complex and confidential case escalations, maintaining consistent and customer‑focused outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence by applying data, insight and emerging technologies such as AI to improve the Helpdesk experience.
• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and service innovation throughout the HR Shared Services function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading HR advisory or helpdesk teams within a large organisation.
• Strong coaching and people‑development capabilities.
• Ability to manage confidential and complex employee relations matters.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, customer‑focused HR services.
