Interim Reward Specialist – Public Sector (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Interim Reward Specialist to support a public‑sector client in Birmingham. The role is hybrid, runs for an initial six‑month fixed term (with a likely extension), and offers a day rate of £400 through an umbrella company.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive reward framework aligned with organisational strategy.
• Establish reward principles, governance, pay philosophy and decision‑making processes.
• Create and embed a structured job architecture, including grading methodologies, role descriptors and organisational mapping.
• Develop career ladders, competency profiles and role expectations to support talent development and succession planning.
• Conduct market benchmarking and compensation analysis to inform salary structures.
• Produce implementation toolkits, guidance materials, templates and training resources.
• Partner with HR and business stakeholders to embed new frameworks and ensure ongoing governance.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and implementing reward frameworks, job architecture and grading structures.
• Strong understanding of reward principles, pay philosophy, governance and compensation benchmarking.
• Ability to engage effectively with HR and business stakeholders.
