IT Support Engineer – Birmingham

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on IT Support Engineer to join Arvato’s IT team at our Hams Hall site in Birmingham. You will be the first point of contact for colleagues, ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and delivering high‑quality support across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line IT support via the ITSM system, troubleshooting hardware, software, network and user account issues.
• Build, configure and deploy laptops and desktops using Modern Workplace technologies.
• Install, configure and maintain IT hardware, software and telecommunications equipment.
• Manage Active Directory accounts, permissions and Group Policy.
• Support Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Perform server maintenance, backups and ensure system security.
• Maintain IT documentation and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with third‑party suppliers to resolve technical problems.
• Identify and implement improvements to IT processes and the end‑user experience.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an IT Support Engineer, Desktop Support or Systems Administrator role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience with Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender and Modern Workplace technologies.
• Good understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot PCs, servers, printers and peripheral devices.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑first attitude.
