Lead Solution Architect

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Solution Architect to drive the design and delivery of robust, scalable solutions that support the ICO’s strategic objectives and Enterprise Architecture standards. You will work closely with the Director of Architecture and a wide range of stakeholders to ensure solutions are secure, performant and aligned with business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the creation of end‑to‑end solution designs that meet performance, security and scalability requirements.
• Provide technical guidance throughout the solution development lifecycle, including requirements validation, technology evaluation and benefits realisation tracking.
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align solution decisions with the Enterprise Architecture roadmap.
• Support the Director of Architecture in developing and maintaining the Enterprise Architecture roadmap and ensuring consistency across the organisation.
• Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging technologies and innovative tools that can enhance the ICO’s solution portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading solution architecture initiatives within large, complex organisations.
• Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to influence technical direction and drive architectural governance.
