Litigation Barrister

About the role

The Legists are seeking a Litigation Barrister to join their team in Greater Manchester. You will work on high‑profile public‑sector matters, advising ministers and senior officials while managing a diverse litigation caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and guidance to government departments on litigation and regulatory issues.
• Represent clients in court, tribunals and other dispute resolution forums.
• Draft pleadings, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals across advisory, commercial and employment law areas.
• Maintain a robust caseload and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality legal services.

Required profile

• A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive.
• Strategic and creative thinking with strong analytical judgement.
• Ability to work collaboratively at pace and communicate complex issues clearly.
• Open‑minded, impartial and comfortable handling high‑visibility work.

Required skills

• Experience in litigation, advisory, commercial and employment law.
• Knowledge of EU legislation and public‑sector legal frameworks.
• Risk‑based advice and persuasive advocacy.
