Locum SGO/Kinship Social Worker – Manchester

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join a specialist team delivering Special Guardianship Order (SGO) and kinship care services for Manchester City Council. This temporary locum position offers a competitive hourly rate and a hybrid working model.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive Special Guardianship Assessments (SGA) and Connected Persons Assessments.
- Prepare detailed, evidence‑based reports for court proceedings and panel reviews.
- Provide post‑order support, advice and guidance to Special Guardians and kinship carers.
- Collaborate closely with legal services, Looked After Children (LAC) teams and the judiciary to achieve permanence for children.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker (QSW) registered with Social Work England.
- Recent, proven experience conducting SGO assessments or working within a Kinship/Permanence team.
- Strong knowledge of legislation relating to Special Guardianship and children in care.
- Ability to produce analytical, court‑ready written work to strict deadlines.
