Mental Health Practitioner – Recovery Service

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, proactive Mental Health Practitioner to lead our Recovery Service in Whalley Range, Manchester. You will manage a dedicated team providing person‑centred care for individuals with enduring mental health needs and a learning disability, helping them develop skills for independent living and an active lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Service Manager and line‑manage a multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct holistic assessments and create personalised support plans.
• Maintain accurate records using the ECCO system.
• Manage risk, ensure the welfare of service users and safe administration of medicines.
• Engage individuals in therapeutic activities and collaborative planning with families and external professionals.
• Work flexibly on a rota system, covering shifts as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of practitioner experience in mental health.
• Supervisory or management experience is desirable.
• Relevant qualifications in mental health or social care.
• Warm, compassionate approach with strong empathy and respect.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Well‑organised, professional and able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the ECCO case‑management system.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act (MHA), Mental Capacity Act (MCA), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLs) and care standards.
• Safe medication management.
