Mental Health Support Worker – Children & Youth

About the role

MedGen Healthcare is looking for compassionate and resilient Mental Health Support Workers to provide high‑quality care for children and young people with complex mental health needs. You will support individuals with autism, ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, helping them feel safe, understood and supported in daily life.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress or challenging behaviours.
• Assist children with autism and ADHD in managing routines, transitions and sensory sensitivities.
• Support daily living activities such as personal care, mealtimes, hygiene and maintaining structured routines.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with each care plan.
• Safely manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques when required.
• Maintain accurate, clear and timely records of care provided and any incidents.
• Promote a safe, nurturing, structured and stimulating environment tailored to individual needs.

Required profile

• Minimum six months UK experience as a Mental Health Support Worker.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑pressure situations.
