National Account Manager – Retail & Discounted Accounts

About the role

We are looking for an experienced National Account Manager to own and grow a portfolio of retail and discounted retail customers. You will be the primary point of contact, driving commercial success while working remotely and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end relationships for a portfolio of retail and discounted retail accounts.
• Lead annual commercial negotiations covering pricing, terms, promotional investment and account reviews.
• Maximise sales, margin and profitability across the customer base.
• Oversee credit control activities where required.
• Develop and execute account plans to increase volume, distribution and profitable growth.
• Coordinate critical‑path activities for new product launches, range reviews and seasonal initiatives.
• Manage private‑label and own‑brand programmes, including specifications, costing and supply‑chain coordination.
• Collaborate with supply‑chain, technical, marketing and finance teams to deliver on customer commitments.
• Resolve commercial, operational, quality or supply‑chain issues efficiently.
• Produce accurate forecasts, reports and performance analysis.
• Identify and develop new customer opportunities and expand existing trading relationships.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, presentations and negotiations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a National Account Manager or in a similar commercial account management role.
• Strong track record of negotiating with retail customers.
• Experience managing critical‑path processes such as new product development, range reviews and seasonal launches.
• Responsibility for private‑label or own‑brand accounts.
• Background in the food and beverage sector is highly desirable.
• Excellent commercial awareness and relationship‑building skills.
