Occupational Therapist – Children with Disabilities

About the role
This full‑time temporary role supports the Children with Disabilities team within Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council. You will work directly with children and young people who have complex needs, helping them achieve greater independence, safety and participation at home and in the community.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct high‑quality occupational therapy assessments and deliver targeted interventions.
- Perform specialist housing and environmental assessments to identify necessary home adaptations.
- Collaborate with the Home Improvement Agency to prepare and support Disabled Facilities Grant applications.
- Work closely with families, social workers, health professionals, education settings and housing partners to ensure coordinated care.
- Manage a varied caseload and make clinical decisions in complex situations.
Required profile
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in paediatric disability services.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with families and multi‑agency partners.
- Confidence in managing complex assessments and delivering person‑centred recommendations.
- Ability to handle a full‑time temporary workload and maintain accurate records.
Required skills
- Occupational therapy assessment and intervention techniques for children.
- Knowledge of housing adaptations and Disabled Facilities Grants.
- Multi‑agency collaboration and case management.
