PE & Sports Specialist (HLTA) – Primary School

About the role

Aspire People are recruiting for a fantastic Manchester M9 primary school seeking a PE and sports specialist to start in September 2026. The position goes beyond delivering PE lessons, encompassing sport, physical activity, pupil wellbeing, extracurricular activities and wider learning support within the school community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality PE lessons using the school’s existing scheme and resources
• Plan, assess and evaluate pupil progress in physical education
• Support active play provision and run extracurricular sports clubs
• Provide after‑school sports clubs on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 4:00 pm
• Attend sporting fixtures and help organise Sports Day
• Develop links with other schools and manage PE equipment and resources
• Promote healthy lifestyles and physical activity across the school
• Support nurture and mentoring work, occasional lesson cover and wider community events

Required profile

• Level 3 sports/coaching qualification or higher
• Minimum two years’ experience working with children through sport or physical activity
• Experience supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills
• Confidence managing groups of children with a positive, nurturing approach
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science
• Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one
• Previous primary school experience and/or Level 3 TA or First Aid qualification is beneficial
