Pipefitter – Glasgow & Clyde sites

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join its team working on high‑profile defence projects across the Clyde. You will fabricate and install pipework systems on vessels and industrial installations, handling a variety of materials and ensuring reliable utility services.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install large‑ and small‑bore pipework using copper, carbon steel, stainless steel and other alloys.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Install shipboard utilities such as sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components according to drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades to meet project schedules and maintain accurate work records.
• Follow all safety regulations, SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment procedures.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
• Previous work as a Pipefitter or in a similar trade within an industrial or commercial environment.
