Pipefitter – Glasgow

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join its dedicated team working on high‑profile defence projects across the Clyde. The role is based onsite in Glasgow (Govan and Scotstoun) and involves fabricating, installing and maintaining pipework systems for naval vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install small‑ and large‑bore pipework using copper, carbon steel, stainless steel and other alloys.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment according to engineering drawings.
• Install utilities aboard ships, including sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components to specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and adhere to safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or recognised trade qualification (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
