Quality Assurance Technician – Interim

About the role
This 12‑month interim position supports a medium‑size food manufacturing business in Kent, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality and safety standards. The role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional with a strong background in food/feed safety, legislation and quality management.
Key responsibilities
- Handle queries from trading, customers, technical and production teams regarding food/feed safety, legislation and quality requirements.
- Coordinate and conduct external audits (BRCGS, EFISC, Red Tractor, Kosher, Halal) and internal GMP audits.
- Review audit results, identify trends, train auditors and ensure corrective actions are completed on time.
- Investigate quality incidents and customer complaints, determine root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Perform periodic audits of the QMS, HACCP, CCP, OPRPS, policies and procedures to maintain food and feed safety compliance.
- Deliver training on hygiene, GMP and site-specific food/feed safety rules.
- Run traceability and mock‑recall exercises for certification bodies and customers.
- Oversee contract hygiene and pest‑control teams, ensuring continuous improvement of site cleanliness.
- Manage the Salmonella monitoring programme, analyse results and document incidents.
- Prepare Management of Change (MOC) and project documentation, and generate quality‑related purchase and work orders.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Recognised qualification in quality, food science or a related discipline.
- Internal Audit Certificate (essential).
- Strong understanding of food/feed safety legislation and audit standards.
