Quality Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing

About the role

Join one of Ayrshire’s largest engineering employers. Prestwick Aerosystems manufactures aircraft wing structures for Airbus worldwide. The role is accountable for Quality Engineering activities within projects, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Corrective and Preventive Action process, establishing root causes and effective solutions for internal, customer and supplier non‑conformances.
• Ensure production activities follow EASA Part 21G and AS9100 Rev D requirements, including inspection planning, Last Article Inspection (LAI) and First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/FAV).
• Support Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for key products.
• Manage the Material Review Board (MRB) process, ensuring items are dispositioned and corrective actions are implemented.

Required profile

• Minimum HNC level or equivalent in a related discipline.
• Experience preferably in aerospace or a comparable manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of standard quality tools and techniques, and knowledge of AS9100 Rev D and regulatory approval requirements.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings and systems used by major customers such as Boeing and Airbus is an advantage.
