Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious Registered Manager to lead the registration, opening and ongoing operation of a new children’s residential home in Birmingham. This role offers the chance to build a high‑quality, child‑centred service from the ground up and to shape its culture and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the registration process and oversee the launch of the residential home.
• Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, safeguarding legislation and quality standards.
• Recruit, develop and manage a high‑performing staff team.
• Deliver positive outcomes for children and young people through effective care planning.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations, budgets and quality assurance processes.
• Build strong relationships with local authorities, professionals and other stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement and aim for positive Ofsted inspection results.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a children’s residential care setting.
• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

Required skills

• In‑depth understanding of Ofsted inspection criteria.
• Ability to develop and implement safeguarding policies.
• Experience in staff recruitment, training and performance management.
