Safeguarding Officer – Hybrid (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time Safeguarding Officer to join The Scouts Association’s Safeguarding Team at Gilwell Park, London. The role involves supporting volunteer managers, handling safeguarding, welfare and vetting cases, and ensuring the safety of young people across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Assess safeguarding allegations and suitability of leaders based on disclosure checks.
• Operate within UK statutory guidance for adults in positions of trust.
• Provide support and guidance to senior volunteer managers.
• Manage a caseload of safeguarding, welfare and vetting referrals, assess risk and make referrals to statutory agencies where required.
• Progress referrals and adhere to deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.

• Ability to work within a team and on own initiative.
• Experience maintaining strategic partnerships with external agencies.

• Permanent contract with a salary of £39,560 per year (Band F, Level 3, inclusive of Outer London weighting).
