Senior Data Scientist

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our award‑winning Data Science team at a pivotal moment. Carwow operates a two‑sided marketplace connecting car buyers and sellers, and data science is at the heart of making the marketplace smarter, faster and more valuable.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end ML and AI delivery, from problem framing through deployment, monitoring and iteration.
• Design and build LLM‑powered solutions for document processing, intelligent search and content understanding.
• Develop models that directly impact commercial outcomes such as marketing efficiency, pricing signals and recommendation engines.
• Prototype and experiment rapidly, defining success metrics and deciding when to scale or abandon ideas.
• Partner cross‑functionally with Commercial, Marketing, Product, Finance, Engineering and Operations teams.
• Contribute to standards, documentation and mentorship, raising the bar for the data science function.

Required profile

• Commercial mindset with a focus on business impact and revenue, efficiency or customer outcomes.
• Proven ability to work with commercial, marketing and product stakeholders and translate business problems into well‑scoped solutions.
• Sound judgement on when to use classical ML, GenAI or simpler approaches, with an eye on scalability and explainability.
• Bonus: experience in marketplace or two‑sided platform environments.

Required skills

• Strong experience building, deploying and maintaining production ML models in Python.
• Full‑lifecycle MLOps delivery (training, versioning, monitoring, champion‑challenger experiments).
• Hands‑on expertise with LLMs and GenAI tools such as Gemini API and Claude API.
• Proficiency with cloud data platforms and tools: dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Looker.
• Software engineering practices including Docker, GitHub and workflow orchestration (Vertex AI Pipelines, Kubeflow).
