Senior Occupational Therapist – Assessment Officer

About the role
The Manchester City Council seeks a Senior Occupational Therapist to lead assessment and support services for service users and their families. This full‑time, temporary position focuses on delivering person‑centred care, managing risk, and fostering collaborative partnerships across public and private sectors.
Key responsibilities
- Provide direct, statutory‑compliant support to service users and families, promoting independence and positive outcomes.
- Assess and plan individual, person‑centred packages of care in collaboration with partner agencies and stakeholders.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop students and trainees, contributing to staff development.
- Maintain accurate records in line with council, local and national policies to evidence service delivery.
- Manage allocated resources, including human and financial, to drive continuous improvement.
- Engage with internal and external partners to enhance service delivery and promote transparent, collaborative approaches.
- Lead diversity and inclusion initiatives, ensuring equal access and treatment.
Required profile
- Qualified Occupational Therapist with experience in senior assessment roles.
- Demonstrated ability to work with multi‑agency partners and manage complex risk situations.
- Experience supervising and developing students or trainees.
- Strong commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement.
