Senior Product Developer

About the role

The company is a well‑established international food manufacturer supplying private‑label and branded products to major UK retailers and overseas markets. As Senior Product Developer you will lead new product creation from concept through launch, shaping the innovation pipeline and working closely with retail customers and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end product development projects, turning customer briefs into commercially viable, production‑ready foods.
• Collaborate with major retailers to define objectives and deliver innovative solutions.
• Conduct benchmarking, market research and trend analysis to uncover new opportunities.
• Manage project critical paths, ensuring milestones and launch dates are met.
• Coordinate Technical, Procurement, Packaging, Operations and Commercial teams.
• Support UK, European and Asian development projects with international manufacturing partners.
• Handle retailer requirements for packaging, artwork, photography and marketing assets.
• Lead product validations, factory trials and first‑production sign‑off.
• Monitor nutrition, quality and technical compliance throughout development.
• Mentor a Junior Product Developer and drive continuous improvement in the NPD function.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading product development projects in the food industry.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with retailers, internal teams and international partners.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative environment.
