Senior Quantity Surveyor – Civils (HS2 Project)

About the role

You will join a Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure across the UK, working on the high‑profile HS2 programme. The role is a full‑time permanent position based in Birmingham with hybrid and flexible working, offering direct commercial responsibility for key civil engineering work packages.

Key responsibilities

• Full commercial management of major civils work packages on the HS2 project.
• Cost planning, forecasting and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
• Administration of NEC contracts, including change control and compensation events.
• Procurement and management of subcontractor packages.
• Assessment and agreement of valuations and final accounts.
• Risk and opportunity management to protect project margins.
• Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members.
• Collaborating with operational and engineering teams to drive value.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in heavy civils.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance.
• Strong cost control, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, commercially astute and solutions‑focused mindset.
• Full UK driving licence.
