Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civils

About the role

You will join a Tier 1 contractor delivering major infrastructure across the UK, working on the high‑profile HS2 programme from their Birmingham office. The role is full‑time, permanent and offers hybrid, flexible working.

Key responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for major civil work packages on HS2.
• Prepare cost plans, forecasts and financial reports throughout the project lifecycle.
• Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including change control and compensation events.
• Procure and manage subcontractor packages, assessing valuations and final accounts.
• Identify and manage risks and opportunities to protect project margins.
• Support and mentor junior commercial team members.
• Collaborate with operational and engineering teams to drive value.

Required profile

• Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in heavy civil projects.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 and/or NEC4).
• Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial performance.
• Excellent cost control, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, commercially‑focused mindset and full UK driving licence.
