Senior Social Worker – MASH Team (Locum)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a busy MASH team on a locum basis in Greater Manchester. You will be at the centre of safeguarding practice, handling complex adult protection referrals and collaborating with a range of partner agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Screen and triage incoming safeguarding referrals, assessing risk and determining appropriate action.
• Gather and analyse information from partner agencies to inform safeguarding decisions.
• Ensure cases progress in line with Care Act 2014 duties and safeguarding thresholds.
• Chair and contribute to strategy meetings and safeguarding enquiries.
• Provide professional recommendations and develop robust safeguarding plans.
• Supervise and mentor junior social workers on safeguarding practice.
• Work closely with health, police, housing and voluntary partners to achieve timely outcomes.
• Manage a complex caseload, balancing competing priorities under pressure.

Required profile

• Minimum three years post‑qualifying experience in safeguarding adult protection.
• Proven experience handling referrals, screening, and multi‑agency enquiries.
• Strong communication and listening abilities.
• Legal literacy of safeguarding legislation and the Care Act.
• Previous supervisory experience as a Senior Social Worker.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
