Senior Systems Engineer

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Rail Systems Engineer to join its UK office. The role focuses on delivering rail infrastructure projects within the Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance team, providing technical leadership from feasibility through detailed design.

Key responsibilities

• Develop system engineering plans, technical requirements, and system architectures for rail projects.
• Manage technical requirements using tools such as DOORS and ComplyPro.
• Evaluate interrelationships of system requirements and design aspects, creating scope of work and work packages for clients.
• Provide specialized technical input to studies and designs, ensuring high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes.
• Participate in multidisciplinary reviews and collaborate with clients, contractors, and public‑sector custodians of the UK rail network.

Required profile

• Established professional in railway systems safety with experience leading a team of safety engineers.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver system engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Strong communication skills to act as senior technical resource for projects.
