Service Charge Accountant – Property Finance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Service Charge Accountant to join a well‑established property business in Birmingham City Centre. The role offers ownership of a portfolio of service charge accounts and involvement across the full service charge cycle, working closely with property managers and surveyors.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of service charge accounts from start to finish.
• Preparing service charge budgets, reconciliations and year‑end accounts.
• Producing accurate financial reports and resolving service charge queries.
• Working closely with Property Managers, Surveyors and Facilities Managers.
• Reviewing expenditure and ensuring recoverable costs are allocated correctly.
• Supporting the wider finance team with continuous process improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in property finance and the service charge process from invoice to year‑end.
• Previous Service Charge Accounting experience.
• Experience preparing budgets, reconciliations and year‑end service charge accounts.
• Solid understanding of recoverable and non‑recoverable expenditure.
• Strong communication skills and confidence to build stakeholder relationships.
• Experience within commercial or mixed‑use property.
