Site Engineer

About the role

We are delivering a major new infrastructure programme across the West Midlands and need a Site Engineer to join our professional delivery team in Manchester. This white‑collar, management‑track position will act as the technical heartbeat of the project office, translating designs into on‑site execution, ensuring quality compliance and driving digital delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interrogate complex civil drawings and 3D BIM models, raise RFIs and maintain progressive as‑built records within the CDE.
• Establish primary site control networks and operate robotic/GPS surveying kits for volumetric and dimensional verification of earthworks, drainage and foundations.
• Author, implement and sign off project‑specific Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), coordinate material testing and manage Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs).
• Act as Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor, handling permits to dig, confined‑space entry and subcontractor RAMS reviews.
• Maintain daily site records, interface with the Quantity Surveyor and track variations, delays and progress under NEC4 mechanisms.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years’ experience with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 main contractor on heavy infrastructure (highways, rail, major earthworks or reinforced concrete).
• Degree or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline; progressing towards MICE chartership.
• Valid CSCS card (PQP/Gold) and SMSTS or SSSTS certification; TWC certificate preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Leica/Trimble surveying equipment and robotic GPS surveying.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and BIM model review.
• Experience creating and managing ITPs, material testing and NCR processes.
• Understanding of NEC4 contract administration and temporary works coordination.
