Social Worker – Separated Children and Young People Service (UASC)

About the role
This temporary agency role supports Solihull Council’s Separated Children and Young People Service, focusing on unaccompanied asylum‑seeking children (UASC) who are looked after by the local authority. The appointment is initially for 3‑4 months and is full‑time.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake assessments in line with the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families.
- Carry out regular reviews of individual care plans, record outcomes and develop updated plans.
- Prepare detailed reports for statutory reviews, child protection conferences, panels and courts.
- Conduct age assessments where required (experience advantageous).
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker, fully registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in a local authority setting.
- Strong background in children’s social care, preferably with UASC.
- Experience of undertaking age assessments is an added advantage.
Required skills
- Proficiency with assessment frameworks and statutory reporting.
- Ability to develop and review care plans.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract (3‑4 months) paid at MOU rates.
- £250 joining bonus for new starters.
- £300 referral bonus for successful placements.
