Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs

About the role

Philosophy Education Ltd is recruiting Special Needs Teaching Assistants to work full‑time in a secondary school in Dulwich, London. You will support pupils with a range of complex needs, helping them learn, develop independence and feel safe throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with visual, physical and communication needs during classroom and sensory activities.
• Provide personal care such as feeding and mobility assistance where required.
• Use clear, adaptable communication methods tailored to each pupil.
• Assist with emotional regulation and behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Promote confidence, independence and social interaction.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapy teams to deliver individual learning plans.

Required profile

• A caring, patient and professional approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Genuine desire to make a difference for children with additional needs.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the past two years.
