Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – GI Oncology (12‑month maternity cover)

About the role

The Christie Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Specialist Clinical Pharmacist to join the GI oncology team. The role primarily supports patients with colorectal cancer, supervising systemic anti‑cancer therapies and contributing to outpatient prescribing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and evaluate clinical pharmacy services for GI cancer patients.
• Supervise and prescribe systemic anti‑cancer therapies and supportive treatments for colorectal cancer.
• Develop and maintain specialist knowledge of medicines used within the Trust, including NICE‑approved protocols.
• Promote safe, efficient and cost‑effective use of medicines through education, policies and guidelines.
• Contribute to the multidisciplinary team, service development, new initiatives and drug protocol review.
• Work across the Greater Manchester and Cheshire Cancer Network as required.

Required profile

• Qualified clinical pharmacist with experience in oncology pharmacy.
• Independent prescribing qualification preferred or working towards it.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and flexible working across sites.

Required skills

• Independent prescribing (or progression towards qualification).
• Knowledge of systemic anti‑cancer therapies and supportive care.
• Familiarity with NICE guidelines and drug protocol development.
• Ability to deliver education and training to healthcare staff.
