Specialist Pharmacist – Medicine of the Elderly

About the role

This permanent Band 7 position at Western General Hospital offers a motivated pharmacist the chance to specialise in Medicine of the Elderly (MOE). You will play a key role in delivering pharmaceutical care to frail older patients across admissions and downstream wards, working within a dynamic multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Play a key role in the pharmaceutical care of older people.
• Collaborate closely with the MOE pharmacy team and multidisciplinary team to optimise patients’ medicines and care.
• Support and develop other members of the pharmacy team.
• Undertake service improvement, quality improvement, research and leadership activities.

Required profile

• Master of Pharmacy degree (or equivalent) and General Pharmaceutical Council registration.
• Completion of or competence equivalent to the RPS post‑registration foundation pharmacist curriculum.
• Commitment to improving patient care through proactive, evidence‑based pharmaceutical services.
• Experience influencing prescribing practices and working in a patient‑focused environment.
