Subsidence Engineer

About the role

Join a leading UK loss adjusting firm as a Subsidence Engineer, working remotely while supporting insurance claims across the commercial, domestic, marine and motor sectors. You will act as a client‑facing surveyor, delivering technical assessments, site inspections and clear reporting that influence liability and settlement decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Handle subsidence claims and provide technical support to Adjusters.
• Conduct site visits, investigate claims and develop case management plans.
• Produce detailed reports covering policy analysis, liability, quantum and recommended actions.
• Instruct and coordinate other technical specialists as required.
• Calculate and agree interim payments and final settlements.
• Recommend and review repair or mitigation solutions such as underpinning, drainage and vegetation management.
• Provide expert technical input on causation, supporting litigation, complaints and recoveries.
• Stay current with technical and legal developments and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer (or working towards chartership).
• Relevant experience in civil/structural engineering, claims investigation or a related technical environment.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Clear, confident communicator who builds trust with clients, contractors and colleagues.
• Well‑organised, able to manage a varied workload against SLAs and targets.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
• Willingness to travel across the UK regularly.
• ACII and/or ACILA qualifications are a plus, though not essential.
