System Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a System Design Engineer to join our specialist engineering team in Redhill, Surrey. You will work on complex communications, networking and technology solutions for maritime, defence, government and commercial customers, delivering high‑quality electrical and mechanical designs from concept through to manufacture and installation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, enclosure designs and mechanical assembly drawings.
• Develop design concepts from initial requirements to final production documentation, including STEP files and other manufacturing outputs.
• Create bills of materials, technical drawings and installation documentation in line with ISO and industry standards.
• Support design of electrical enclosures, control panels and 19‑inch rack‑based systems.
• Participate in design reviews, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, project management and installation teams throughout the full design lifecycle.

Required profile

• HNC, HND, apprenticeship, degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience producing electrical and mechanical engineering drawings in an engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and manufacturing processes.
